Using SOIL SLEUTH is easy: Push & Twist, Tap, and Feel - but here are some detailed suggestions:

Step 1: Push SOIL SLEUTH into the soil (to the bottom of container, or into the

soil up to a depth of 12 inches), twist a quarter turn, and then gently remove.

Step 2: Tap SOIL SLEUTH to release the soil samples into your hand.

Step 3: Squeeze soil samples between your fingers and...

if Dry, soil is loose and light: Add Water!

 

if Damp, soil clings to your fingers: Do Not Water, test again in 2 - 3 days.

 

if Wet, soil is squishy, water appears: Do Not Water, make several more holes to help aerate the plant.
